FIRST  YEAR  -  BASIC  ENGINEERING

                                The Department of Basic Engineering offers various types of courses in English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Applications. In the first semester, these courses are general in nature and aim at bridging the academic differences of high school education and polytechnic education— it is common irrespective of the streams. However, in the second semester, the foundational courses are oriented towards the technicality of the particular stream and vary in accordance with the stream.

                                In addition to these foundational courses, two new courses in Tamil namely, Tamil Marabu and Tamizhar Thozhilnutpam, are introduced; the former concerns the culture, tradition and  history of Tamils, and is taught in the first semester; the latter concerns the traditional technology associated with Tamils and is taught in the second semester. These courses are in line with the new curriculums outcome of being skill centric in nature.
